Sept. 30th
butter stocks are estimated to be 186.1 mil. lbs. This represents a decrease of approx. 27 mil. lbs. from the end of Aug. The 04-07 average Sept. butter stock level is 172.0 mil. lbs.
Total American cheese stocks at the end of Sept. were 553.9 mil. lbs. compared to 567.7 mil. lbs at the end of Aug. The ‘04-07 end of Sept. average level of American cheese stocks is 551.9 mil. lbs.

For the Advanced Class I price for November, the value of Class III other solids (whey) is -$0.0022 . This is due to the fact that the whey make allowance is $0.1991 and the 2 week average whey value used in Nov.’s calculation was $0.1970. Take a look at my spreadsheet for more detail: http://future.aae.wisc.edu/collection/software/advancedpricesfinal_version1.xls . The advanced Class III determined the Class I mover for Nov.

The Nov.
Class I Mover is $17.33 an increase of $1.80 from last month and a $4.12 decrease from the Nov. ‘07 value.

spreadsheet model that can be used to undertake “what-if” analyses of the LGM-Dairy insurance program. You will need to download the archive file and then unzip this archive to your desired directory. You then use lgmdairybeta.xls to undertake your analysis.

weekly NASS dry whey price for October 11th was less than $0.20 .

In Sept., the
retail whole milk CPI was 217.2, a decrease from the record July value of 225.4, a 3.6% decline. The Sept value is less than the Sept. 07 value. This represents the first year-over-year decline in milk prices since Feb. ‘07

cost of production estimates for the manufacture of cheddar cheese, dry whey and non-fat dry milk for 2007.

Today’s
Dairy Products Report provides further evidence of the weakening of the milk protein markets. Weekly average NFDM prices decreased from $1.172 to $1.065 over the Sept. 27th-Oct 4th period. Over this same period, average U.S. dry whey prices decreased from $0.210 to $0.202 .

There has been a total of 6,363,209 lbs. of non-fortified nonfat dry milk purchased by the CCC under the price support program in spite of the current support price for non-fortified is 80ยข per lb. This is the first nonfat
dry milk purchase by the CCC under the support program since July 17, 2006. The spot price for NFDM at the CME today was $1.00
