globalDairyTrade Data now Available

We have added the globalDairyTrade data to our database collection system. We include data on WMP, SMP and anhydrous milk fat. This information can be found be going the “Prices” section of the Understanding Dairy markets website (http://future.aae.wisc.edu/tab/prices.html) and then clicking on the bottom 3 categories located on this page.
Cheese Production Data has Been Fixed

We have found the bug and fixed our database. The cheese production data is now OK.
Cheese Production Data Not Correct

We have just discovered a bug in our computer code related to our cheese production data. The data for Jan 09 is the state FIPS code. The monthly data has been pushed down one month. DO NOT USE THE 30 DAY MONTH FEATURE. We will notify you when the problem has been fixed.

New LGM-Dairy Premium Calculator Available

We have available a new LGM-Dairy premium calculator that uses historical premium data and actual prices to examine the impacts of alternative LGM-Dairy contract designs. This spreadsheet can be found by going to the Supporting Software sub-section of the LGM-Dairy area of this website.
Futures Data Problem Has Been Corrected

Weekly Snapshot of U.S. Dairy Industry

A new feature has been added to the front page of the Understanding Dairy Markets website. Now on the front page is a clickable item that provides a quick look at the status of the U.S. dairy industry. The spreadsheet accessed by clicking the associated icon contains a thumbnail sketch of cash and futures markets. The information contained within the various worksheets is updated weekly. The four worksheets contained in this file are devoted to: (i) Dairy Cash Markets, (ii) Dairy Futures Markets, (iii) Corn and Soybean Futures Markets and (iv) projected MILC Payments.
