In the Jan 4th weekly NASS product price report, data for the week ending Dec. 29th, indicated a $0.20 drop in average NFDM prices to $1.6440 from the level observed for the week ending on Dec. 22nd .

The announced Class III price for Dec. is $20.60. This represents a $1.38 increase over Nov.’s value and a $7.13 increase over Dec. 2006. The Class IV price represents a $1.22 drop from Nov’s value.

The Dec. All-Milk price is estimated at $21.70, down $0.20 from Nov. The corn price is estimated to be $3.88/bu., up 45¢ from November. Soybeans averaged $10.40/bu., up 99¢ and alfalfa hay averaged $136/ton, up $1.00.

The Dec. Milk-Feed Price Ratio decreased from the Nov. value of 3.06 to 2.86. This compares to a Dec. 2006 value of 2.43.

The big decline in cheese prices at the CME was reversed today with blocks trading at $1.95 up 14.5¢ on Friday while barrels traded at $1.90, an increase of 10.0¢. For the week blocks were up 2.0¢.

The Jan. ‘08 Class I was announced today to be $20.97. This is an increased of $0.93 over Dec. ‘07 value and a $7.38 increase over Jan. ‘07. The Class I Mover for 2007 averaged $18.14.

The CME Spot Barrel price dropped $0.22 today to end at $1.77. The price last Tuesday was $2.16.

The spot price for Cheddar blocks at the CME fell 26.25¢ this week. Barrels fell 16.25¢, dropping below $2.00 for the first time in a month.

CME barrels decreased 7¢ today to $2.06. Blocks increased to $1.98.

CME blocks dropped 12.25¢ today to $2.03 on 4 sales. Barrels were unchanged at $2.16 on no activity. Butter also was unchanged.
