Dec. 23-State Milk Production Increases 1.5%

Dec. milk prod. in the 23 major states was 14.6 bil. lbs., up 1.5% from Dec. 07.   Prod./cow averaged 1,726 lbs., 8 pounds above Dec. 07.  The number of milk cows on farms was 8.48 mil. head, 90,000 head more than Dec. 07, and 7,000 head more than Nov. 2008.
