The NASS
average dry whey and
NFDM price experienced significant month-over-month drops in values which resulted in close to a$3.00 drop in the Class I mover. The two-week average dry whey price announced today was $0.2673 compared to $0.4380 announced on Jan. 18th, a 39% drop. NFDM dropped from $1.6931 to $1.3398 over this same period, a drop of 21% .

The
March Class I Mover is $16.70. This represents a $2.98 drop from the Feb. ‘07 value but a $2.45 increase from March ‘06.

Over the July-Dec. 2007 period, Australia’s
total dairy export volumes were down 21% vs. a year earlier. Exports of SMP were down 34%, whey -44% and butterfat -23%. Cheese exports were up 4%.

For the week ending Feb 2nd, the NASS average
dry whey price was $0.3248 ( a drop of $0.0235) and the
NFDM average price was $1.4030 ( a drop of $0.0541)

Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd., the world’s biggest exporter of dairy products, said drought cut New Zealand’s milk production and may
restrict new export orders.
Record dry weather in much of the country means season-to date output is falling below last year, reported by Chairman Henry van der Heyden.

Cheese- $1.67 Butter- $1.235
NFDM- $1.41 Whey- $0.35
Class III- $15.80 Class IV milk- $15.45
All milk- $17.20.

The CME
spot barrel price increased $0.1900 last week. The
barrel price increased $0.1525. Some attribute the increase to strong export demand for cheddar blocks.

Total cheese output
(excluding cottage cheese) was 843 mil. lbs., 1.5% above Dec. 2006 and 3.9% above Nov. 2007.
Italian type cheese prod. was 357 mil. lbs., 0.5% above
Dec. 2006 and 3.7% above Nov. 2007.
American type cheese prod. was 334 mil. lbs., 1.3% below
Dec. 2006 but 3.2% above Nov. 2007.

The
January Announced Class III price is $19.32. This represents a drop of $1.28 from December’s value but a $5.76 increase over the January 2007 value.

According to yesterday’s Agricultural Prices report, during January, the price paid for
corn averaged $4.28/bushel, up from $3.05 last January.
Soybeans averaged $11.00, up from $6.37. And
alfalfa hay averaged $135.00/ton, up from $112.00.
