U.S. Milk Proudction Continues its Year-Over-Year Increase

October’s 23-state milk production was 14.4 bil. lbs, an increase of 1.5% from October 2007.   Production per cow in the 23 major States averaged 1,700 pounds, 3 lbs above October 2007. The number of milk cows on farms in the 23 major States was 8.46 million head, 105,000 head more than October 2007, and 1,000 head more than September 2008.
