Milk Production Continues to Increase Relative to 2007 Values

May milk production in the 23 major States was 15.4 bil. lbs. , up 3.4% from May 2007.   Prod./cow in the 23 major States averaged 1,816 lbs., 25 lbs above May 2007.

The number of milk cows on farms in the 23 major States was 8.46 mil. head, 162,000 head more than May 2007, and 12,000 head more than April 2008.
